All the news about a successful Garage Sale!
The Garage Sale held last Saturday, August 3rd, was a wonderful event in the life of this church and our Westshore community! Volunteers worked steadily for five days preceding the sale, receiving donations from parishioners as well as lots of generous people in our wider community. Along the way, everyone who helped out had a great time getting to know other church members and having fun with one another. On Saturday, more than 50 volunteers helped with the early morning set-up, with the BBQ lunch, with selling items to our many customers and with the packing and clean up at the end of the day. We received many comments from customers who enjoyed their shopping experience and were impressed with the quality of the goods and the way that they were displayed. People also appreciated the fact that we accepted payment by credit and debit. Most of the unsold items have been moved on to Habitat for Humanity Restore, Anney’s Closet and the Salvation Army. Bill and I extend a huge thank you to everyone who participated in so many ways – putting up posters, bringing donations, helping with the set-up, working on the day of the sale and taking donations to the Salvation Army. As of last Sunday morning, net proceeds from the sale are $5,354.20. Well done, everyone! - Linda Van Sickle |
Church of the Advent Vision 2030Be part of our building a vision for our parish's future! Saturday Sept 21st & Sunday Sept 29th - afternoons. Mark your calendars for the two-part parish visioning workshop led by Bishop Logan. Each session will begin with a potluck lunch. We want to know: Who is God leading the Church of the Advent to be and to do in 2030? (in 5 years’ time) How will we get there? This process will be prayer-filled AND practical. Every voice is important, no matter your age, no matter how long you’ve been in the parish. We’ll be working in small groups to ensure that everyone gets a chance to speak.
